Emerging Leadership Trends Via Social Networking

Oliver Wendell Holmes said “Man’s mind streatched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.”

BusinessLeader     Online leaders from all industries and professions are struggling to define their identities in today’s social networking world.  The number #1 way to capture your target markets attention is to engage them through social media.

“Why is that”, you might ask?  You can not build a following, client list or market share online by using traditional offline tactics however I think you know that already.

So how does one start, why not take a small step forward and get started through micro-blogging, it’s a technique that is taking the social networking world by firestorm and the service that I recomend you use is Twitter.  With twitter you have 140 characters to get your message out and you had better not be spamming or coming across like a used car salesman – nobody likes a salesman so be your self and talk about topics that your target market are interested in.

Why not start by following me on twitter:  http://www.Twitter.com/MarkEdwardBrown

I tweet back and you can always come back here to leave a comment and discuss connection, networking and leadership in the social networking world.

How to Connect, Lead & Network with Social Media Marketing

Social Media and Social Media Marketing hase gainded center stage so to speak in the world
of online marketing over the past few years because of the popular concept of Web 2.0 sites
such as Bloghology, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Digg, etc.

The impact that this social has and it’s popularity are relevant to marketing professionals
for several reasons:

- users can generate their own content
- form networks of friends
- make new connections with like minded people
- create and share videos
- and distribute or share all of the above content in a niche or community based atmosphere
that wants to recive it
- plus so much more.

On sites like Bloghology, MySpace and Facebook users can create their own profile pages,
custom text, pictures, and videos etc. to create their own pages. They can then share this
content with other contacts, friends, family members and anyone else in their social network.

On sites like StumbleUpon, Digg, YouTube, and Flickr users can submit a summary of news articles,
pictures, and videos and then vote on the contents that was submitted by others. Popular content
is featured on the homepage of those sites and it in turn drives large amounts of traffic to
the related website that submitted it.

Using social media sites to promote your content, product or service is called social media
marketing. There are two types of traffic you get when your content becomes popular in a
social media or web 2.0 site.

The immediate and long term or residual traffic that you get as a benefit of your content
is what makes social media marketing such a huge leveraging point for you and your message.

Some of the results of exposure to you and your brand can be immediate popularity resulting
in large amounts of traffic flooding your blog plus added clients and new contacts which
sets up networking and profits for you plus the added assurance that you are creating
wanted content in cyberspace.

Social media marketing is just one of the low-cost/no-cost methods of making your blog or
website popular however the time invested in exploiting it to your advantage is well worth
it and over time it will distinguish you as a leader and marketing professional in your field.

Always to Your Success,

How to Become an Influential Militant Marketer

I returned home last night from an adventurous and celebratory weekend with my wife.  We spent the weekend at The Wilderness Club at Big Cedar, it’s an outdoorsmans paradise and we were celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary.

Well what the heck does all of that have to do with being an influential Militant Marketer?  (I can imagine you thinking that right now)

It just so happens that I finished reading Dr. Robert Cialdini’s book “Influence – The Psychology of Persuasion”, what a terrificly insightful
book.  I have two things to share with you in reference to this critically important topic:

The first one is a quote from Dr. Cialdini:

Very often in making a decision about someone or something, we don’t use all the rlevant available information; we use, instead, only a single, highly representative piece of the total.  And inisolated pieces of information, even thought it normally counsels us correctly, can lead us to clearly stupid mistakes – mistakes that, when exploited by clever others, leave us looking silly or worse.”                    – Robert Cialdini

Militant Marketers are ever vigilant not to allow courses of action or decisions that are not thoroughly evaluated to be acted upon and as the quote above alludes to if you make irrational or on the spot decisions based on a truth, you may think you are doing the right thing yet in fact you are not and it will cause you to loose face, reputation or worse yet valuable resources.

The second item that I want to share with you is an interview that legendary marketer Rich Schefren did with Dr. Cialdini about social media, blogging, and his upcoming book on proven ways to be persuasive, you can get it below:

Listen To Rich Schefren Interview Dr. Robert Cialdini, Author Of “Yes!: 50 Scientifically Proven Ways to Be Persuasive”

I would also be remiss if I did not mention my favorite author and marketer extrodinaire, Joe Schroeder who recently wrote Super Mind, you can’t get it in stores so if you like the subject matter of this blog post and want definitive information that you can use in your life and business right now – leave me a comment or e-mail me   Mark@MarkEdwardBrown-dot-com
