Home, Sweet Home!

Home image     I have been home for one week now and I have been loving it.  I have been so busy I have not had time to blog.  I have more than one blog however, like I said, there is not enough time in the day to get all the blogging done that I want to.  I actually like blogging so much that I am reading a book about it (don’t call me crazy, I know I already am lol).

What I have been doing the most of is playing with my kids and spending quality time with my wife :-)   My kids and I like to play games like Monopoly, Life, Memory etc.  They did invite me to play one of those video console games but I had to refuse, I’m just not into it.  We also watch movies together and we have even done some back to school shopping.

Speaking of back to school, tomarrow is the first day of school of the new school year.  each of my kids starts a new school that they have never been to before so I am glad that I am home to help my wife get them off to school with as little anxiety as is possible for kids on the first day of attendance at a new school.

My wife and I celebrated out 18 wedding anniversary the other day as well.  We went out for lunch and then an afternoon movie.  We saw Planet of the Apes, Rise of the Apes, it was an entertaining movie with some good special effects and I would recommend it to a friend so go see it if you are considering seeing an action movie, oh and stay for the end even after the credits start rolling because it shows why the film was titled “Rise of the Apes” and sheds light on how the “rise” leads to the planet being taken over by the Apes.

I have some great posts coming soon so while you wait for the good stuff to get here please leave me a comment and tell me how your summer has been?

P.S. that is not a picture of my real home however it may be one day in the future.  I like thinking big and encourage creative capitalism!

Social blogging dilema for Mark Edward Brown

Mad Man Image     I have spent the better part of an entire weekend working on the layout and overall look of this blog and I am still not 100% happy with it.  I decided to change this blog layout to a 3 column blog – all that means is that there is a skinny column on the left, a large column in the middle for the main post or article and then another small column over there —-> on the right.  I was able to get that accomplished as well as a few other changes also, leave me some comment and tell me if you like it or not?

One of my goals when I made the decision to change the layout was to enhance the social usability of the blog.  I added a few more social networking buttons and added my Twitter stream as well, you can see it over there <—— on the left side.  There are times when I comment or post something to Facebook and/or Twitter however my blog readers may not ever see it.

I would be in blog nirvana if someone could point me out just the right theme that combines blogging with social networking.  There are 3 disciplines that I enjoy; blogging, miro-blogging (Twitter), and Facebook – the only problem is I am not quite able to meld them into the ideal communications platform and that irks me.

Like I said above, leave me your comments and tell me if you do or do not like this new layout and if you know of a better 3 column WordPress theme that I should be using?

Thanks and I will post again soon,

Leadership in the Blogoshpere – Sound Off!

I have some questions and concerns about the current state of the blogosphere and after I share them with you I encourage you to comment on my blog so that we can establish a dialogue about these issues and concerns, ready?

Let’s go;

1)  Do you feel that micro-blogging (Twitter) will become more popular than traditional blogging?

2)  Do people like to read content on a blog or watch content via video on a blog?  Which do YOU like?

3)  Who are the leading bloggers that you are following right now and why?

4)  How do you find blogs that interest you?  Word of mouth, Google Blog Search, Technorati etc?

There you have it just a few of the questions and concerns marinating in my brain right now.  I am interested to read your feedback and comments.  My thoughts are that with the advent of social networking and the web 2.0 movement the lines that separated blogging and blogs from other media in the blogosphere are becoming blurred.  I don’t neccessarily think this is a bad thing because I like convenience and improved functionality across communication platforms, what about you?

Sound Off,

Mark Edward Brown
