Mark Edward Brown remembers Septeber 11, 2001

Remembering 9/11     Remembering somber times is not something that I like to do however 9/11 as it has become known is a day that I have not forgotten and probably will not forget for some time to come.  Like many of my fellow Americans I can vividly remember where I was and how I learned about the tragedy that took place on the day the two towers fell.

I was a junior in college and at the time I was a “non-traditional” student because I had returned to college after a very long break so to speak.  In 1991 I attended one semester of college at the University of South Dakota later that year I enlisted in the Army.  For 8 years I took college classes and learned about leadership by studying and applying “lessons learned” from the real trenches known as military service.

In the year 2000 I left the Army to complete my college degree and earn a commission as an officer in the greatest leadership organization I have ever known – the Army.

When 9/11 occured my oldest daughter and I were getting ready for lunch, my wife was at work because she was supporting us while I attended college.  I had one of the cable news channels on and as soon as it happened I called one of my friends who was an ROTC classmate of mine.  His name is Ben and I was the first one to break the news to him.

I knew that many of the people that I had known and those that I led at that time would be preparing very soon to “go to war”  I knew that this act of agression was one that would have 2nd and 3rd order effects on the lives of virtually everyong that I knew.  All the remaining classes the rest of that day were cancelled and for days after that many people were still confused and in disbelief about what had happened.

I earned a commission in the Army as well as a degree in Criminal Justice in May of 2002.  To this day we are still at war 10 years later.  This conflict has been and continues to be the most unconventional experience of our life and times.  It has been and is being fought on many fronts and has caused this nation to suffer a black eye on a global scale that has been slow to heal.

Right now at this point in time I am doing my best to honor those that gave all and left this life those 10 years ago.  I pay tribute to them and to their loved ones who lost a national treasure that we will never get back.

We pulled together as a nation and as neighbors in the days and weeks that followed that tragedy and my hope and reflection is to get back to the devotion, dedication, care, and compassion that we all displayed as we began the path back from terror.  Please do something today to demonstrate your ability to contribute in a positive and favorable manner in honor of those passed so that we could live on!

Labor Day in the USA

Laborday on Mark Edward Browns's Blog     It’s Labor Day in the USA and I like any holiday that celebrates working men and women both for what they are doing now and for what they have done to pave the way for workers of the past, present and future.

I can remember as I grew up my grandparents working and then both my parents working, heck both my parents are still working and it seems like the legal retirement age keep getting moved farther and farther until folks wont have any life left to enjoy after putting in a solid career.

Unfortunately what was once common which was to work for one company for 20 or more years in now uncommon and it’s harder to find companys that will keep people on the payroll past a certain age.

Labor Day, is always the first Monday in September, its dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to workers who have contributed to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our nation.  The very first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882.

I would like to propose a new way of laboring for what you want and deserve.  Wouldn’t it be nice if tomarrow morning when you wake up you have the piece of mind to know that you are part of a team that is working for your prosperity and the wealth and success of a team.  A group of people who have a synergy for success to win so that one day the efforts of the many provide for the benefits of one and all.

The new labor is online, it’s electronic and wealth is being made by the minute not by the day, week and month anymore.  If you are tired of slaving away from 8 to 6, 7 to 5 or worse join the team —-> Click Here

I’m glad I did and I know you will be glad you did as well.

Always to your success,

Mark Edward Brown

Where did summer go?

I want to know if you experienced the same thing that I did this past summer, was your summer too short?  Have you asked yourself where did it all go, how did it slip by so fast?  If you are like me when you were a kid you couldn’t wait for summer to arrive and then in a blink it was gone.  Now that I am “grown” the same thing is still happening and I am sure you will agree that it is frustrating.

With that being said, I did make the best of it and had some great experiences.  I just returned to South Korea from the USA where I was in Florida for a work related conference and then I was fortunate enough to travel home to spend so much needed time with my wife and children.  My wife and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary, I am proud of that accomplishment and for all of the experiences that we have shared over the years.  I feel like I am just as much in Love with my bride as I was on the day we were married, perhaps even more, so I am very thankful.

Each of our 3 kids started a brand new school this year and this is my son’s first year of kindergarten so now my wife gets a little bit of a break while the kids are all at school and I am happy for her because of that fact.  My family had a busy summer prior to me arriving back home as well.   They traveled to South Dakota and then to Arizona and many waypoints in between as they visited and traveled with loved ones that they had not seen for quite some time.

Mark Edward Brown Candy Factory Photo     Here is a picture of me at Silver Dollar City, which is an amusement park with a family atmosphere in Branson, Missouri.  I found it amusing that they had a candy store named after my family – “Brown”, is that cool or what?  We visited the park with our Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin from Willard, Missouri.  My Uncle is in the Army Reserve and has deployed more than I have so we get along really well and they are just good people to spend time with.

Now that I have you all caught up with what I did this summer, leave me a comment and tell me how your summer went, I would love to read all about it?
