Monday 3 January 2011 will be a day that I will always remember. I spent virtually all of the New Year’s holiday weekend in intensly focused preparation for my Black Belt test in the Tae Kwon Do class that I have been attending since I arrived here at my current assignment in south Korea.
When I was a teen ager and in jr. high and high school I studied Tae Kwon Do as well and I always told myself that if I ever made it to Korea I wanted to complete my martial arts studies with a Korean Grand Master and visit the Kukiwon which is the world headquarters of Tae Kwon Do.
Part of my dream came true when I tested for an was awarded my first degree black belt. I tested with a fellow student and friend, David Dewey. My instructor is Grand Master Sung-Kyu Choe. I am planning a visit to the world Tae Kwon Do headquarters and have learned that my instruction and journey as a martial artist is only just beginning.

Leave me a comment about your martial arts experiences and thanks for reading,

Congratulations, Mark! I know how hard it is to achieve your recent accomplishment. I too, studied a little Tai Kown Do. However, I failed to complete my mission due to my heavy work schedule and intensive travel. Nonetheless, I commend you for this grand achievement! Congradulations! I know your success will serve you well!
Hi George, my sincere thanks Sir!
