Mark Edward Brown visits The Independence Hall of Korea

TheIndependenceHallofKorea     I recently visited The Independence Hall of Korea which is an another incredible and “must see” place to visit and experience when you visit Korea.  The Independence Hall was established in August of 1987 and is comprised of 68 buildings on 4 million square meters that chronicles the origins of the Korean people and it’s culture throughout it’s occupation by Japan up to today’s times and challenges.

This visit lasted all day and was one of the most memorable and educational day trips that I have experienced so far during my assignment here in Korea.  The Independence Hall is near Cheonon, I arrived on a bus and an orientation briefing was scheduled from 10:00am to 11:00am, we then toured 7 exhibition halls that were all breathtaking in their display of history and demonstration of enginuity.  We then had luch from 12:30am to 1:30pm and then went to the 4D theater which was very entertaining, I wont spoil the secret however I will tell you that I prefer the 4D experience vs. a 3D experience any day.

From 2:00pm to 4:00pm we toured and learned about what a day in the life of the Independence Army was like and then we closed out the day with the ringing of the Unification Bell which was a seriously humbling time.  The bell is located in an outdoor amplitheater like monument that is spectacular, the bell is rung with the intention and desire for the peaceful unification of Korea.

Despite the day spent at the Hall, I still was not able to see and experience all of the displays and granduer of this breathtaking location. I look forward to a return trip to learn and see more of Korea’s history and it’s culture.

Leave a comment and tell me about your experience at the Indpendence Hall or about any other great places I should visit while in Korea?

With my best regards always,

Mark Edward Brown blogs about Grandparents Day

GrandparentsDay Image     Did you know that today is Grandparents Day?

I know that today many people in the USA are reflecting on the September 11th tragedy that occured 10 years ago.  With that being said allow me to share with you a little bit more about Grandparents Day.

In 1970 Marian Lucille Herndon McQuade, a West Virginia homemaker (and mother of 15) sought to create a holiday honoring grandparents since there was already a Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.  Thanks to the McQuade’s campaigning, it did become an unofficial holiday throughout West Vriginia, supported by businesses, churches, and community groups.

3 years later, West Virginia governor Arch Moore declared it an official state holiday.  Later that year, West Virginia senator Jennings Randolph introduced a “Grandparents Day” resolution in the U.S. Senate.  McQuade and West Vriginians rallied the media and contacted senators, representatives, and seniors’ organizations all across the country.  With that support, Randoph’s bill was finally signed into law in 1978, and first celebrated on September 9, 1979.

Grandparents are special and I cherish those who are still alive.  I miss my grandparents who have passed away yet I still honor their memory and the life lessons they taught me before they left this life.

While you are reflecting today give thanks for your Grandma and Grandpa, I know I do.

Labor Day in the USA

Laborday on Mark Edward Browns's Blog     It’s Labor Day in the USA and I like any holiday that celebrates working men and women both for what they are doing now and for what they have done to pave the way for workers of the past, present and future.

I can remember as I grew up my grandparents working and then both my parents working, heck both my parents are still working and it seems like the legal retirement age keep getting moved farther and farther until folks wont have any life left to enjoy after putting in a solid career.

Unfortunately what was once common which was to work for one company for 20 or more years in now uncommon and it’s harder to find companys that will keep people on the payroll past a certain age.

Labor Day, is always the first Monday in September, its dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to workers who have contributed to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our nation.  The very first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882.

I would like to propose a new way of laboring for what you want and deserve.  Wouldn’t it be nice if tomarrow morning when you wake up you have the piece of mind to know that you are part of a team that is working for your prosperity and the wealth and success of a team.  A group of people who have a synergy for success to win so that one day the efforts of the many provide for the benefits of one and all.

The new labor is online, it’s electronic and wealth is being made by the minute not by the day, week and month anymore.  If you are tired of slaving away from 8 to 6, 7 to 5 or worse join the team —-> Click Here

I’m glad I did and I know you will be glad you did as well.

Always to your success,

Mark Edward Brown
